malou castillejos

Hi, thank you for visiting my blogsite. I’m Malou Castillejos, a gown designer based in Manila, Philippines. I   specialize in elegant embroidery and delicate hand beadworks.

Everything that I know, from sketching my ideas to executing them, I learned from my mentor and our best friend – our dearest mom, Florina, better  known to my folks from Cauayan, Isabela as Daisy Lustre, former radio announcer at DZNC radio station.  Although I practically grew up in Manila, I have come to love my hometown. My siblings and I enjoy going home every year to visit our grandfather and see some friends we have there.

My sisters Nona and Ada and I established C & C Creative Concepts in 1999,  a one-stop Bridal Shop that caters to practically all the needs of all soon-to-wed couples.

Each of us has our own strengths so we partnered together to help achieve a couple’s dream wedding. Our older sister Nona heads our Events Department as she has the experience in organizing conventions, shows and big events.  Our youngest sister Ada is our Creative Design Consultant and her job is to create unique keepsakes and elegant wedding invitations as she is the most creative among us. Her creations are truly one-of-a-kind. To see her samples, you may visit her website or head on to her blogsite .

I stand as the company’s in-house Gown Designer. I love fashion! I love dresses!

I wasn’t really the girly girl while growing up but I have always been a fan of Barbie. At age 6, I learned how to sew dresses for her. My mom of course taught me how.  As I grew up, I collected a few Barbie and some Barbie-like dolls and created lots and lots of dresses for them.  Barbie became my very first model. I sold so many Barbie dresses to my classmates who were just as crazy as I am with Barbie (our house was a good walking distance from the Chinese school where I went in gradeschool so all my girlfriends will walk with me and stop by our house to check on the Barbie dresses that I make. I sell them for P10.00 each..hahaha! and my mom cheerfully agreed and she would even give free juice to my friends for buying).   Looking back, it was my early hands-on marketing training from my beloved mom.

My Barbie-size Gowns

Years passed and to make the story short and sweet, I am now a happy servant to brides wanting to wear the best on their wedding day. I labeled my gowns “The Perfect Gown” and I stand by it to it’s fullest meaning.  As I was quoted in a Manila Times article “Malou is a stickler for perfection. She listens to her brides and work with her to achieve the gown of her dreams. She wants her to feel comfortable, graceful and confident when she walks down the aisle on her wedding day wearing a creation that is all her own”.

Here are a few pictures of me with my past brides. I always try to be there to dress up my bride whenever I can wherever it may be, even outside the Philippines (for as long as my roundtrip ticket is shouldered by my genereous bride..hi hi! which I was honored to do a few times).

So here, happy viewing and when you are done, please read some of my blog posts. And if you feel like sending me an email, please feel free to do so, I’ll be most happy to reply back.

I hope that you can visit me soon at my quaint atelier in Quezon City.
